Obituary of Richard K. Wise

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard K. "Rick" Wise passed away at Morristown Memorial Hospital with his family by his side on March 10, 2018. He was 66. Born in Honolulu, HI, he moved to New Jersey in 1983 and had lived in Denville for many years before moving to Randolph about 10 years ago. Rick was Superintendent of Morristown Department of Public Works until he retired in 2011, having worked for the DPW for 27 years in various roles. Rick brought "Aloha" to family, friends, and anyone he met. He was an avid fisherman and beach lover, and could often be found casting a line off of Sandy Hook, or fishing just anywhere either alone or with his nieces and nephews, who loved to hang out with Uncle Rick. He loved music and travel, and whenever he got the chance, would head off to Key West or a road trip across country. He took every opportunity to "play tour guide" especially taking a run to the Jersey Shore with any visitors who came to visit New Jersey. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Maxie. Rick is survived by his dear wife of 27 years, Kathleen Wise (Rooney). He is survived by his children Rachel, Richard and Sheila & their families in Hawaii and Seattle, and his siblings, Bernadette of Hawaii and her family; Seline, Joe, George and James and many nieces and nephews all of San Francisco, CA. Rick is also survived by his NJ family, Stacey, John & Christina Murphy, Rosemary & Jerry Kelly, Kathy, Joe, Jeff & Alex Dunn and their families, Kim, Ted & Julia Winsch, Doug, Mel & Will Ciampaglione, and Signe, Mike, Logan and Ashley Campbell. And finally, his extended family reaches to Scotland, his mother-in-law, Margaret Rooney, his sister-in-law, Alison and her family, and his brother-in-law Kevin and his family, and many friends who will miss him dearly. A celebration of Rick's life will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834www.normandean.com on Thursday March 15, 2018, from 4-7PM with a service to commence at 7PM. Donations can be made in his memory to the Joey Bella Fund by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
