Obituary of Joseph A. Clementi, Jr.

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joseph A. Clementi, Jr. passed on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.  He shared 70 years of love and fishing pointers with his family and friends.  A Funeral Service with military honors will be held on Saturday, January 27th at 5pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville.  Friends and relatives may visit beginning at 3 o’clock that afternoon.  Donations in his memory may be made to the good work of Team Rubicon or Semper Fi Fund by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org

Joe was born in Newark in 1947 to the late Joseph and Josephine Clementi.  After his schooling he enlisted in the US Marines where he served in Vietnam.  After two tours and his honorable discharge he returned to the states and settled in Lake Hiawatha.  He worked for St. Clare’s Hospital for 35 years in the Maintenance Dept., retiring in 2016. He enjoyed his time there but certainly was looking forward to spending more time hunting and fishing! These hobbies were what he most loved doing.  As they say, “a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work”!  Joe was also a talented carpenter. His hands were gifted and he enjoyed working on projects with his brother through the years. Joe will be missed by many.  We take comfort in knowing he is at peace and resting on the banks of a river in heaven where the fish are always bitin’.

Joseph is survived by his daughter Stacey Hotchkin, step son Nicholas Civitan; grandchildren Hailey, Madison and Nicholas; his sister Jacqueline Oliphant; brother Jeffrey and sister in law Toni Clementi; his dear Aunt and Uncle Mary and Lenny Cappucilli; nieces and nephews Charles, Patrick and Jeffrey Nye, Cheryl Tyler, Lisa and Gina Clementi; his dear friend Carol; Lady, his loyal canine and many more friends, relatives, and proud Marines. Semper Fidelis.
