Obituary of Marita Kathryn Goedeke

Please share a memory of Marita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marita Kathryn Goedeke passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, at the young age of 67.  She will be missed dearly by many and her love, selflessness and generosity will remain forever in the hearts of those lives she touched.

Marita was born to Joseph Jerome and Mary Kathryn LaMonte (Landwersiek) in Astoria, Queens.  In 1954 her family moved to Denville, NJ; where she would spend her years until she met her husband Robert Goedeke.  She always was willing to put her hand out to anyone who needed help and showed this throughout her life in everything she did.  Marita’s home had an open door policy, anyone was welcome and everyone was family.  She especially had a passion for cooking and making sure her family and friends were taken care of.  Family was above everything in her life; she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  Anyone who crossed paths with Marita was lucky to have known her beauty and kindness.

She leaves happy memories to her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert Goedeke; cherished children Robert Goedeke (Sheila), Theresa Buccino (Ronnie) and Nicole Huron (Vaughn); adoring grandchildren Gianna, Enzo and Giovanni; loving brothers Gerard LaMonte (Sharon) and Mark LaMonte (Angela) and many more caring relatives and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Friday, January 19th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, 07834.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 20th at 10 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville, 07834.  Interment will follow at Stillwater Cemetery, 930 Maple Avenue, Newton, 07860.  Donations are being made in Marita’s memory to the good works of St. Jude’s Children Hospital by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org .  Please leave a condolence or share a memory with the family.
