Ruth Alice Dorshimer Little, known by her friends as “Nink”, passed away in her home of forty-seven years on August 19, 2017 in Ringoes, New Jersey. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Old Rock Church, 260 Mt Airy-Harbourton Rd, Lambertville, NJ 08530. 

Ruth was born on June 1, 1932 in Binghamton, New York to Pennsylvania Deutsch parents, Asher and Ruth Dorshimer.  She attended a one room schoolhouse in Castle Creek, New York for her first four years of education and then went on to graduate from Whitney Point Central School in Whitney Point, New York in 1949.  She received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in Rochester New York in 1953 majoring in public School Music and Trumpet then continued at the Conservatory’s Graduate School to major in Theory of Music.

Her love of music and interest in proper instrumental music instruction for children led her to teach private and group instruction in the New York State public schools in Rochester, Endwell, Candor, Liverpool, and in Ringoes, New Jersey.  She retired in June of 1989.

Ruth was a member of the New Jersey Retired Education Association and the National Education Association.  Among her many interests were crossword puzzles, travel, birds, flowers and cats.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert and two sisters, Dora and Madalyn.  She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Little of Ringoes, New Jersey, her son and daughter in law, Mark and Lisa, and their son Robert, in Currituck, North Carolina, and her daughter, Christa of Stony Point, New York.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 7th at 1:30 pm at Old Rock Church, 260 Mt. Airy-Harbourtown Road, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Please leave a condolence and special memory for her family.
