Obituary of Walter Cole
Walter Earl Cole Jr.
Jan. 26, 1938 – May 10, 2017
Walter Earl Cole was born in Amigo, WV and was raised in Beckley, WV. He was an exceptional athlete playing baseball for the Keatley Brothers Little League team as well as capturing Golden Glove championships in his weight class two consecutive years . Walter Earl graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1956 and moved to NJ where he lived, raised his family and worked at S.B. Penick, Foster Wheeler and St. Barnabas Hospital until his retirement in 2007. He belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 68 as a boiler operator.
Walter Earl was a kind, loving, generous father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded by his father, Walter Earl Cole Sr., mother, Rose Etta Cole, his grandparents and his close friend Joan Larson. His memory will always be in the hearts of his daughter Andrea Gantert (Bobby), son Michael Cole (Jayne ), grandchildren Robbie , Emma Rose, Tyler and Logan and former wife Anneliese of NJ, sister Frances Lee Gilletto, Kissimmee, Fl., brother Thomas E. Cole (Lisa), Macon, Ga., nieces Angela Clemens (Mike), Michelle Lynn Elvins, nephews Thomas Lee Cole, and Rodney Carroll (Lea Ann) . A special thank you to his supportive friends Ann, Eileen, Sue, Linda & Jeff, Augie, Jennifer, Nicky, Connie , Joanne & John, Maria & Ashley, and Denville Shoot the Breeze card players.
Funeral services will be held at Norman Dean Funeral home in Denville, NJ at 10:00 am on Tuesday , May 16, 2017. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Boonton, NJ. Visiting hours are Monday, May 15, 2017 from 3-7:00pm. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Association by way of www.inmemoryofmorial.org.
