Joan was born in Liverpool England to the late George and Sarah Langley. She was one of five children and eventually immigrated to the United States at the age of 6, two years following her Mother and older siblings. The family settled in New York and Joan quickly made friends and enjoyed her new surroundings. After graduation, she met Robert Buechner. After a whirlwind romance, the two were married and started a family of their own. They moved to River Edge, NJ and stayed for over 60years. The family enjoyed summer vacations at Trout Lake in the Adirondacks each year, a tradition carried through with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and reader. She enjoyed walking daily and loved to watch the birds. Her family meant the world to her and she was so very proud of her children and grandchildren who affectionately called her Mima and Grandma. Recently, Joan had been promoted to Great Grandma to six, soon seven! She loved seeing the babies and watching them grow. This family Matriarch surely has given us much to celebrate and will be missed beyond words. Predeceased by her husband Robert (1989); and her siblings Edith, Gerrard, Kathleen and James; she leaves happy memories to her children Robert K. Buechner (Helene Bauman), Edith Buechner (Derek Anspach) and Philip Buechner (Ellen); her five adoring grandchildren Gary Lees, Wendi Kauffman (Randy Treible), Kenneth Buechner (Kari), Julie Stroffolino (Andrew) and Kelly Laki (Franz); great grandchildren Jasmine, Ethan, Lily, Kenneth, Kaitlyn, Jake and Baby Stroffolino on the way; and many more dear relatives and caretakers.
