Obituary of David Ramirez
David Ramirez, 60 years young, died from a sudden illness on Tuesday, March 14 in Fort Lauderdale FL.
Dave, known professionally as David St.John, was a life-long entertainer and a proud member of SAG-AFTRA. Born in New York City, Dave moved to Rockaway NJ as a child and lived in NJ for most of his life. Dave and Scott Bowker met in February 1981 while working for a division of the New York Times. On their first date, Dave asked Scott to hold his cold hand and Scott didn't let go. That started their 36 years together. In 2014, Dave and Scott married on their 33rd anniversary at a small wedding in New York City. Dave enjoyed planning their surprise reception for family and friends, disguised as a moving party, a few days later. Soon after that, they relocated to Cambridge MA for Scott's job and to take care of Dave's aging mother. Dave spent more time beginning in May 2016 in their new condo in a Fort Lauderdale high rise. Dave loved the water view, he quickly became involved in the condo social committees, and laid the groundwork for his entertainment career in southern Florida. Dave and Scott enjoyed a relaxing weekend at their Fort Lauderdale home and they were together, with Scott yet again holding Dave's hand, when Dave passed.
In addition to Scott, survivors include a sister Jacqueline Connor (Anthony); nieces Melissa Smith (Derek), Stephanie Chambers (Chris), April Connor; nephew Anthony Connor; five great nieces and nephews; aunt Shirley Johnson; and first cousins Marla Liberatore, Lisa Claps (Fred), Andrea Culotta (Roy). Dave was preceded in death by his parents Adam and Mary (Diaz) Ramirez and first cousin Christine Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Dave with a donation to SAG-AFTRA Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017, from 10:00am - 12:00 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A Funeral Service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will take place in Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover, NJ.
