Katalin Zsuzsanna Somogyi ("Muki"), aged 74, died peacefully on September 16, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Katalin was born September 6, 1942 in Keszthely, Hungary, the daughter of Dr. Zoltan and Margaret Gorgey. She emigrated to the United States in 1963 and settled in New York City. It was there she met the love of her life, Miklos, at the International Debutante Ball in the Starlight Room of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. They married on July 15, 1967. Katalin graduated from the Hunfalvy Gimnazium in Budapest, Hungary, with a degree in Technical Drafting. She worked for many years as a Senior Circuit Board Designer at Cerberus Pyrotronics Corp., later Siemens Corp., in Cedar Knolls. She was a member of the Indian Lake Community Club for 47 years and loved the many friends and wonderful memories she made there. Her passions included cooking, reading, gardening, traveling and history. She was a wonderful host and enjoyed entertaining friends and family in her beautiful lakefront home. She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Miklos, her two adoring sons and their spouses, Peter and Tracy, Michael and April and her five cherished grandchildren, Devyn, Kyle, Dana, Madison and Molly, her brother Steven and his wife Kathleen of Fort Myers, Florida as well as treasured extended family and friends. Friends and relatives are invited to visit on Thursday, September 22nd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 23 at Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville, NJ. Interment will follow at the Denville Cemetery.
