Agnes (Czap) De Lalla, 96, passed away July 9th at Merry Heart Nursing Home, Succasunna, N.J. Agnes was born in Morristown, N.J. on March 19, 1920, to John and Veronica Czap. She was their third daughter. She graduated Morristown High School in 1937 and entered training to become a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Orange, N.J. She received her license as an RN in 1941, served on the staff of Morristown Memorial Hospital for a period of time and during WWII was on the staff of the Morristown Medical Group and also did private duty nursing. In 1961, she joined the staff of St. Clare's Hospital, Denville, NJ, where she worked on the orthopedic wing. She retired after 24 years of service. She was a member of the New Jersey Nursing Association. She met her devoted husband, Thomas, on a blind date that her sister, Betty, had arranged. She was married in St. Margaret's Church on December 27, 1942 and celebrated 69 years with Tom until his passing in 2012. They lived in Morristown until 1954 when they moved their family to Denville. She was very active in many organizations. She was a member of the Rosary Society, Republican Club of Denville, Rotary Anns and was its treasurer for many years. She was active in St. Mary's School projects, Denville Historical Society and assisted in the construction of the Rose and Herb Garden. She chaired the March of Dimes in the Denville Park area, served on the Election Board in Denville, and was a loyal volunteer at the St. Clare's Harvest Festival, the Rotary Street Festival and the Joey Bella Organization. She and her husband received the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA Volunteer Award in 2005. She was a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena R. C. Church, Mountain Lakes, NJ. She was a woman of faith, and as a nurse, she was always a compassionate and caring person tending to family, neighbors and her patients. She loved hosting parties and spending time with dear friends on Marco Island, Fl. She and her husband enjoyed entertaining at Rotary events with their rendition of "I Remember It Well" and dancing to their favorite song, "Spanish Eyes." She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, her grandson, Thomas Christopher, her sisters Irene Czap and Betty Belcastro. Surviving are her son, Thomas and his wife Grace of Flanders, NJ, her daughter, Ginny and her husband Fred Kleen of Parsippany, NJ, her granddaughter Tricia and her husband Steve Kmenta, of Haverhill, MA and great grandchildren Michael and Amanda. Surviving also are nieces, Lainie Belcastro and Ellen de Lalla, and nephews, Gregory Belcastro and Vincent de Lalla, and great nieces and nephew. A Liturgy of Christian Burial Maas will be held on Wednesday July 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mt. Lakes. Please share a memory and pictures of Aggie.
