Obituary of Mary Katherine La Monte

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary La Monte, One of the Best Mary K. La Monte, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 6th. She was 94 years young and has left beautiful memories to all who knew and loved her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 11th at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, Denville. Interment to follow at the Stillwater Cemetery, Stillwater, NJ. Friends and relatives may visit on Sunday, April 10th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Donations by way of In Memory Of on the left may be made to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital or to the Alzheimer's Association. Born in New York to the late Edmund and Josephine Landwersiek, Mary was one of eight children. Her mother died when she was a young girl so Mary took on the role of raising her younger siblings. After her schooling she met and married Joseph La Monte. The couple settled in Denville where they had six children. Tragically, Joseph died in a car accident in 1958, leaving Mary and their six little ones. Mary was an exceptional Mom and was fortunate to have much love and support from family and her dear friends. When she wasn’t at home with the kids, she worked as a pediatric nurse at St. Clare’s. She truly was an amazing nurse and caregiver. Her grace, strength and perseverance throughout her entire life has been extraordinary and defines the word Mother. She has left a legacy of love and joy to her entire family and will be remembered dearly. Predeceased by her husband Joseph J. and her dear son and daughter Joseph N. La Monte and Regina Anderson; she leaves her children Kathryn Battista (Anthony), Marita Goedeke (Robert), Gerard (Sharon), and Mark (Angela); 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many more loving relatives, friends and caregivers, especially the staff at Care One, Parsippany for their love and attention to Mary during her last years.
