He was 79 years young and has left wonderful memories for his family to cherish forever. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 10:00 am at Gene’s parish, St. Mary’s, in Denville. Friends and relatives may visit on Tuesday, March 1st from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in his name to the good work of the Knights of Columbus Council #3359 or the Denville Volunteer Fire Dept. Born in the Bronx, Gene and his wife Fran settled in Denville in 1968. They raised their children here and have been longtime parishioners of St. Mary’s Church. Active with the Knights for many years, Gene was past Grand Knight, former district deputy and then a member of the 4th Degree. He was an insurance agent for many years and kept busy reading, rooting for his beloved NY Mets, and “carrying the crockpot”. Above all, Gene loved spending time with his family. His happiest moments were spent with his wife Fran of 52 years; his children; and his adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves his wife Frances (nee Harrison); children Jeanne (James), Richard (Jennifer), Meg Derkinderen (Eric), John (Ruth) and Liz Williams (Scott); grandchildren who endearing called him G-Pa, Abby, Kristen, E.J, Nicolaas, Amanda, Katie, Colleen, Megan, Katelyn, Erin and baby Williams on the way; greats Adan and Kayla; sister Patricia Barry; and many more loving relatives and dear friends.
