Obituary of Joseph L. Savini

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph (Joey) L. Savini born September 5, 1925 in Newark, beloved son of Frances and Dominic Savini passed into Eternity on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. In rejoining his parents, and sisters Stella, Elizabeth and Rose and brother Anthony, he leaves behind his dear siblings Marie Volz, Gloria D’Amiano, and Domenic Savini, Jr., and many loving nieces and nephews; especially Nicholas Ciufi, who cared for Joseph for many years. Joey’s indefatigable spirit and good hearted eclectic nature were accompanied by a quiet physical strength evidenced by his West Side High school “Rough Rider” rope climbing record that stood unbroken for nearly 20 years and his civilian service during World war II as a federal air marshal. His love of music and harmony were not only displayed in his flawless singing and piano playing but also in his professional work. As a plumber and municipal boiler room inspector Joey’s musical “ear” identified leaks and pressure changes without the aid of sophisticated equipment. However, most of all, our dear brother will be remembered for his unselfish love and ability to bring smiles to people’s faces, especially children as he freely gave them of his time, talent and treasure. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 21st at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myers Ave. Denville. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Friends and relatives may visit on Friday, November 20th from 4-7 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville.
