Obituary of Ernest Sommers

Ernest Sommers passed away on Saturday, August 22nd surrounded by his family and friends. He was 64 years young. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 26th from 5-8pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. A military service is being planned for 7:30 that evening. His family asks, in lieu of flowers, to please consider donations to the good work of The American Diabetes Association. Ernie was born at Dover General Hospital to Frederick and Grace Sommers. Graduating from Seton Hall in 1974, he proudly enlisted with the US Navy Reserves. Ernie worked as a salesman for many years, a job which he loved because he met so many different types of people. He truly enjoyed his sports-football and baseball-being a fan of the New York Giants and Mets for years. As an avid history buff, Ernie took pleasure in regaling his friends and family with tales of his travels from his job and Denville from yesteryear. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by three brothers and many loving family and friends whose lives will be forever changed. He leaves many happy memories to his wife Janice of 39 years and children Eric and Leslie.
