Obituary of Richard J. Lutz Sr.

Richard James Lutz, Sr. – 83, Rockaway Township Richard, aka ‘Dick,’ died of natural causes at 83 on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Morris View Healthcare Center, Morristown, NJ. He was the son of William Frederick Lutz and Margaret Justina (Ryan) Lutz. Richard was born in Newark, NJ and later settled in Rockaway Township, where he lived for more than 50 years. Richard attended Seton Hall Prep and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He is a marine, honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant in Korea. Richard subsequently founded Morris Hills Abstract Company, Inc., a title insurance agency that he ran successfully for more than 40 years. Richard, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, actively engaged in: scouting, booster clubs for his children’s activities and following his children’s and grandchildren’s sports. He enjoyed travel, collecting and the occasional game of craps! Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Roberta “Bobbie” Jean (Freas) Lutz and his only sibling, William P. Lutz, Sr. Survivors include his four children: Richard, Jr. and his wife Linda of Succasunna; Robert and his wife LeeAnne of Lawrenceville, GA; Ruthann Lutz-Glass and her husband Darren of Rockaway, NJ; and Rosanne Lutz of Hilton Head, SC. Also surviving are his most-beloved grandchildren: Nicholas, Johanna, Marlaina, Alton, Maighread and Aoife. Funeral Service at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ on Saturday June 20 at 10:30AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Friends will be received at the Norman Dean Home For Services on Friday June 19, 2015, from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M.
