Obituary of George V. Grimes

George V. Grimes, 82, of Rockaway, passed away peacefully at Morris View Nursing Home on May 16, 2015. George received a BA from St. Joseph's in Philadelphia and a Master's Degree from the University of Illinois. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He embarked upon a 37 year career at White Plains High School in NY as a Math Teacher where he was a very active member of the Teacher's Association and coached Ice Hockey and Baseball. George was a member of the Church of St. Patrick in Armonk, NY, as well as St. Bernard's Church in Rockaway. He loved traveling and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend that will be greatly missed. Predeceased by his son Patrick Grimes, he is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joan M. Grimes; his loving children, Gregory (Kim) Grimes of Edgewater, FL, Mary Ellen (John) O'Hara of Montville, and Christopher (Anne) Grimes of Morristown; his cherished grandchildren, Gregory Grimes, Hailey, Ian, Lindsay, and Owen O' Hara, and Patrick, Stephen, and William Grimes; his caring siblings, Dr. Bernard Grimes and Peggy of PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Assumption, 91 Maple Ave., Morristown. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Visitation will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, on Tuesday, May 19th from 2–4 & 7–9 pm.
