Obituary of James Richard Lappegaard

James Richard Lappegaard, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his home in Denville, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, he had lived in California before settling down in Denville for over 30 years. Prior to retiring, James was a Salesman for Varian in Palo Alto, CA and Nicolet in Milwaukee, WI. James is a U.S. Navy man that honorably served our country for 20 years, proudly serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a member of Musconetcong Lodge #42 Masons, Church of the Saviour, and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, all in Denville. Above all, James loved to travel and spend time with his family traveling in Thailand and China. Son of the late Olaf and Mabel Lappegaard, James is predeceased by his son Donald and his brother Ray. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Reverend Dr. Ruth Mohring of Denville; his devoted children, Joy Jackman and her husband Arnold Bloom of Davis, CA, Ted Lappegaard and his wife Sue of Colorado, and the late Donald Lappegaard and his wife Pat of Visalia, CA; his cherished grandchildren, Danielle, Aryn, Nate, Justin Chad, Jacob, and Sam; his adored 8 great-grandchildren; his caring sister-in-laws, Alice Huizinga and Elin Lappegaard; and several nieces and one nephew. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 8th at The Church of the Saviour at 155 Morris Avenue in Denville. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 2-4 &7-9 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. Please also share a condolence in his memory at www.normandean.com.
