Obituary of Harold Joseph Rodriguez

Harold J. Rodriguez was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. He lived in the Lake Intervale section of Parsippany Troy Hills Township, NJ before moving to Hackettstown, NJ in 2004. He entered World War II at age 17 as a member of the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, VA and Bizerte, Tunisia in North Africa. Harold was an active member of the American Legion. He served as Past Commander of Post 439 and 419 in Jersey City and was Past Hudson County Commander. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church in Jersey City. He was a parish usher at Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Paul's RC Church in Jersey City, and St. Catherine's RC Church in Mountain Lakes, NJ. He was an active member of the Lake Intervale Community Club helping to maintain the lake's water quality. Harold was an environmental engineer beginning with Graver Water Conditioning. He also worked at Witco Chemical Company, Burns and Roe Enterprises, and eventually retired from ABB Lummus. Harold loved traveling with his family to Europe, Canada, Hawaii and up and down the East Coast visiting historical landmarks and national parks. Harold and his family lived briefly in London, England where he worked as a contract engineer for Exxon. He also enjoyed his dogs, Lady and Pepper, taking them on long walks several times a day where they would help retrieve lost tennis balls. He is survived by his daughter, Annette Czeterko of Rockaway Township, NJ and his son, Anthony and his wife Linda of Green Township, NJ, his 7 grandchildren, Laurie Lyons and her husband Jon of Washington, DC, Michael Rodriguez and his wife Stephanie of Byram, NJ, Michelle Rodriguez of Portland, OR, Mark Czeterko and his wife Alexis of Stamford, CT, Susan Czeterko of New York City, NY, Marie Rodriguez and Kevin Rodriguez of Green Township, NJ and 3 great grandchildren, Claire Czeterko and Madeline Czeterko of Stamford, CT and Jasper Lyons of Washington, DC. Harold is also survived by 2 sisters, Joan Mark of Tom's River, NJ and Charlotte Dunphy of Forked River, NJ. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Charlotte Rodriguez, his beloved wife, Louise, his son, Guy Rodriguez, and his son-in-law, Jack Czeterko. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21st at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Sienna RC Church, Mountain Lakes. Interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 21st from 9:00 – 10:30 am at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville.
