Celebration of Erik Maxx's short life but a merry one with us. "Dearest beautiful boy, we know that you loved us so much. We want you to know that you brought so much joy in our lives. We will always love you wherever you are. We are so proud of you. Your cute little voice "Aye Aye You" (I love you) will always resonates in our lives." – Claire and MAK Erik Maxx 2 years 5 months old who touched the hearts of so many families nurses, nannies, doctors, , therapists, died at New York Cornell Presbyterian hospital on Sunday March 1, 2015 at 6:19 am. Erik was battling leukemia for almost 2 years and died 99 days after bone marrow transplant. Erik was born on September 24, 2012 at St Claire hospital, Denville, NJ. During his brief visit on this earth, he loved music, dancing, cuddling his stuffed toys, learning, exploring everything, massages, pink color, stickers, playing blocks, laughing, giggling, giving hugs and kisses, reading, winking, flirting and playful with nurse and therapist. Though he died very young, he had a very bold and old soul. He had so much empathy and patience. He stood in our shoes and react and respond like a saint. His intelligence surpassed any toddler around his age. He touched so many lives in this short period of time. He made such a big dent in his parent's lives and whoever encountered him. Erik will be greatly missed by his parents Claire and MAK. The funeral will be conducted at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ, 07834 Visitation will be held on Saturday at 2pm-5pm. Dinner will be served after this at 21, Broad St, Denville, NJ, 07834 Dress code: To honor his favorite color "PINK", Please include pink in your outfit. From Claire and MAK… It was the most amazing feeling in the world and nothing could ever compare when Erik interrupted a very serious conversation between doctors and me by saying "Mama! Mama! Aye Aye you" - Claire It makes it all worth it, when Erik said "Dada. Sit!" many times, after watching me standing for 12 hours playing stickers, blocks, singing to him. – MAK Thanks to all the nurses, doctors, fellows, residents, therapists, nursing assistants and staffs of PIU and PICU Morristown memorial hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer center and Cornell – New York-Presbyterian hospital. Thanks to all support and sharing by the families and friends on Infant Leukemia support group in face book. We all tried our best and extended Erik's life as much as we can. He took it like a champ when it comes to chemo, radiation, surgery, dressing, injections, biopsy, pain, irritation, nausea etc. Erik tried his best and fought until the last minute. He left us only when we both told him "It's ok. Daddy and mommy are going to be ok". We are so proud of him. Agoogoo, we will always love you.
