Walter James Luers passed away peacefully at his home in Boonton Twp., NJ on August 31, 2017, at the age of 69 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Jersey City he grew up in Fort Lee and lived his adult life in Cliffside park before moving to Boonton, Twp., NJ.
Walter was an architect, working on projects in both Bergen and Morris counties. He was one of the architects involved in building Montville High School, and the Powerville Shopping Center. He was an avid Yankees fan and in his spare time he loved to go fishing.
He is survived by his beloved wife Joan Graham-Rauscher, as well as his children Walter Michael Luers and Aimee Luers-Franco, his sister Denise Rich, his step children Trevor Rauscher and Lauren Rauscher and by his loving dogs Hazel and Dakota. Walter is also survived by his grandchildren, Charles Franco, Matthew Franco, Peter Franco, Walter K. Luers, Beatrice Luers, and Mark Luers, and his former wife Adelaide Luers.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 8, 2017, at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 from 10AM to 12PM with a Religious service to follow at 12PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
