Please accept my most sincere and heartfelt condolences on your loss. I am so very sorry to hear about Russ. He was the reporter who covered the shooting death of my police officer husband in 2005, so I had a significant amount of contact with him over a 12-18 month period. He was very kind and compassionate when asking me questions about my husband. The one thing I so vividly remember about him is how soft and warm his eyes were and how gentle his smile - he seemed to genuinly care about the pain my children and I were in and was mindful to not say anything to make the situation worse. He was a wonderful journalist - I always knew when Russ was writing an article about my husband that it would be fair and accurate without being unnecessarily inflammatory. I can't imagine the pain your family is in right now and I hope you get some answers soon about what caused his untimely death. He was a wonderful young man who touched many lives - you can be so proud of all he has accomplished. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time and - though it may not seem possible now - as time goes on the pain in your hearts will ease. Russ will be with you forever in your thoughts, your words, your hearts, your dreams and your memories.
May God bless you, Russ, and may you rest in eternal peace forever safe in the arms of the angels.
